Visiting Nurse Association of South Central CT Awarded Grant from Webster Bank for Pam’s Pantry

New Haven (October 2, 2014) – John R. Quinn, President & CEO of the Visiting Nurse Association of South Central Connecticut (VNA/SCC) serving the Greater New Haven area, recently announced the VNA/SCC has been awarded a $2000 grant from Webster Bank to be used for the Pam’s Pantry program.

The Pam’s Pantry program was started 15 years ago when Pam Gent, Clinical Manager of Acute East Team, realized that many of the visiting nurses had been purchasing groceries for needy patients. She decided to open the effort up so that all staff could pitch in and help. Last year the VNA/SCC distributed Thanksgiving baskets to 75 needy families. Pam’s Pantry also runs a gift-giving program for Christmas to give gifts to some less fortunate patients. "Webster Bank's grant has enabled us to continue providing food to those patients and families that are in need at Thanksgiving and throughout the year. I am very grateful for their continued support and interest in our program," says Gent.
