The Visiting Nurse Association of South Central Connecticut has been actively involved in the community for more than 100 years. We recognize the vital roles good health care and education play in creating healthy communities. Our employees live here, work here and practice here.
Community Health Programs
- Nurturing Families Network assists first-time parents and their babies (birth to age five) in making a positive start in life through support and parenting skills education. This state-funded program is available for Valley, Milford and West Haven parents.
- Flu & Pneumonia Clinics are available at a variety of convenient community settings in October, November and December. Medicare, B, Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield, Connecticare and Health Net will be accepted as payment. Private pay cost for the flu vaccine is $30 and $45 for the pneumonia. - HIV Caregiver Workshops offer training for families and friends to sustain and maintain loved ones with HIV or AIDS at home.
- Health Guidance Clinics provide health screening and health education in group and individual settings.
- Home Safety Assessments Programs for older adults are conducted by home care specialists in Milford and New Haven. Services include home assessments; medication safety reviews; fall prevention presentations and exercise programs to identify and correct environmental hazards and personal behavior that may pose risks; and telephone follow-ups to promote ongoing safety practices.
- Well Child Clinics are staffed by nurse practitioners and nurses who provide preventive health care from birth through age eighteen in West Haven and Milford.
- Subsidized Care Program is supported primarily by support from the United Ways of New Haven, Milford and the Valley.
