Carla Giugno, Vice President Clinical Services Retires

The VNA South Central Connecticut, Inc. wishes to congratulate Carla Giugno, RN, BSN, Vice President of Clinical Services on her retirement as of April 27. There are no words that can adequately express the gratitude of the agency for the contributions Carla has made over her 38 years with VNA/SCC.

No one has been more instrumental in promoting our mission to serve the underserved and in setting the standard for dedication to and excellence in nursing. When Carla accepted the offer of employment with the VNA in September of 1979, who could know that it would be the best investment of $5.79 per hour that the agency would ever make. Her career with VNA South Central, started as a field nurse (and a union steward at one time) and ended with close to 20 years as the Vice President for Clinical Operations and Agency Administrator. Carla’s influence has spread far beyond the VNA, to both regional and national organizations. She has been an active member of the Connecticut Association for Healthcare at Home, serving as Policy Committee chair and a member of the Board of Directors. Among her many awards, Carla is a recipient of the CAHCH’s Judith Hriceniak Award for Excellence in Nursing, the Nightingale Award for Excellence in Nursing in 2003, and the Healthcare Hero award in 2010. She will be missed, but her presence will always be felt at the VNA of South Central CT.
